STRONGER NEWS - Feb 2026 - Helping Minneapolis, Watch The Librarians, & More

In the midst of the ongoing mean-spirited chaos being inflicted upon our communities, we remember and affirm that empathy and joy—and diverse books—are resistance. Vital resistance.

In the midst of the ongoing mean-spirited chaos being inflicted upon our communities, we remember and affirm that empathy and joy—and diverse books—are resistance. Vital resistance.

In that spirit, here are five updates to share:

  1. 550 books funded by We Are Stronger Than Censorship are going to kiddos and families in Minneapolis as part of Amazeworks’ Belonging Book Bags - Free Book Kits for Families Sheltering at Home program. We are proud to Stand with Minnesota!

  2. Shout out to our friends at Broad Book Press for their new annotated series of six Contested Classics, each of which includes a full-page two color ad for We Are Stronger Than Censorship in the back of the book! We really had fun with the design, and if you want to learn more, click here to check out the video of Lee’s conversation with the two editors of the series, Dr. Michelle Parrinello-Cason and Dr. Amanda Barton.

  3. Our friends at Amazeworks also do these incredible discussion guides, and we just posted the 18th discussion guide (they are doing one for each of the twenty titles from independent publishers that We Are Stronger Than Censorship is buying and donating.) It’s for Young Grandmaster Choi, published by Shero Comics and it’s live at our website’s Read & Discuss tab. We hope you explore the other discussion guides there as well.

  4. And speaking of Young Grandmaster Choi and Shero Comics, they’re offering free coloring pages to go along with their Young Grandmaster Choi graphic novel series. They’re lots of fun, as you can see from the lead image in this post!

  5. The Librarians film—all about fighting book banning—is available to watch on PBS now! The Hollywood Reporter called it “A different kind of superhero movie” and you can stream it here. While the movie primarily focuses on fighting for the freedom to read in red states, the problem of book banning is everywhere in the US right now—including blue and purple states.

Remember censorship is everywhere, and that together, we are stronger than censorship.

With thanks and appreciation for all you do,

Lee and Tasslyn
