Wyoming State Library 5-Year Plan for Federal Funds Approved

The Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) recently approved Wyoming’s five-year plan for Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) funds for federal fiscal years 2023-2027.

This new plan will guide the use of more than $1 million in federal dollars annually. Goals include resource sharing through WYLDCat and interlibrary loan, statewide electronic resources through the GoWYLD databases and e-content, and building local library capacity through staff development.

While the new plan is similar to the prior one, it looks forward to new opportunities including expanded topics for staff training and development and wider marketing of electronic resources to increase use. The WSL will continue to use its relationship with the Wyoming library community to determine needs and use federal dollars effectively for the development of library services statewide.

The 2023-2027 plan will take effect when the State Library begins expending funds received in federal FY23 (October 1, 2022-September 30, 2023). The WSL has a two-year window to use these funds, ending on September 30, 2024. Remaining FY22 funds are guided by the 2018-2022 plan.
