Laramie County Library

Named Library of the Year in 2008 and one of the country’s top children’s libraries in 2012 and 2015, the Laramie County Library System is a literary destination for any day of the year.

We have everything you’d expect in our region’s top public library, plus: 

Free wifi throughout the building and 10¢ per page wifi printing.
Library Café for drinks, sandwiches and bakery items baked fresh in the library.
Public computer center for work, play or communicating.
Study and reading rooms for quiet reading and group study areas.
Meeting rooms for public and private events.
Western History & Genealogy collections.
Youth Services with an entire floor with sections for toddlers, children and teens.
Programs for young children, tweens, teens and adults.
Exhibits like Ensemble: Inspiration and the Artists Book for which international recognized and Wyoming artists interpret bookmaking techniques and forms into original pieces of art.

Everything in the library is available for browsing and mostly free with a library card. Cards are free to residents and all Wyoming library cards are accepted.  The library offers visitor passes for the computer center, and wifi is always free.

The library is open 10:00 am to 9:00 pm from Monday to Thursday, 10:00 am to 6:00 pm on Friday and Saturday, and 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Sunday. The library will be closed on July 25 for Cheyenne Day.  The Library Café is open 7:45 am to 6:00 pm Monday to Thursday, 7:45 am to 5:00 pm Friday, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm Saturday and is closed Sunday.

As you enter the library, look for the Library Café at the end of the first-floor gallery near the east entrance. On the other end of the gallery, close to the west entrance off the parking lot, you’ll find the entrance to the collections and the Greeter Desk where library staff can point you in the right direction:
First floor. Audio, video and multimedia, magazines and fiction collections and Book Sale Room.
Second. Dedicated to children from birth to teens.  This colorful and interactive learning space is the reason the Laramie County Library was highlighted in 2015 as one of the top five children’s libraries in the United States. The Teen Zone, with colorful window panes, funky décor and a large collection of Manga comics, was created as an escape just for teens.
Third. Non-fiction, reference and the Special Collections Room, containing Wyoming history, genealogy and family history. Tucked in a corner is the Capitol Room, the quietest room in the library with the best view of the ongoing restoration of Wyoming’s State Capitol Building.
